My Story With Tony’s

In 1979 I was 8 years old and my cousin had a 1965 Impala SS, we were on our way to our other uncles house on 6th street in Newark. My family is from Newark North Ward 4th ave and Roseville. But by the 1970s we moved to Maplewood. But we were back in Newark almost every weekend we still have many uncles and cousins that lived there..

Well anyways he pulled over and asks me how many dogs do I want and what do I want on them. I had 1 with mustard and sauerkraut and 2 with ketchup and to wash it down I was given a Chocolate Cow.

Now a Chocolate Cow was just like a Yoo Hoo but a little thicker and more Chocolaty. I smelled them through the bad and just could not wait. My cousin couldn’t wait neither . So we sat in that big old Impala on a cold winter day eating the best hot dogs in the world. I was just hooked I mean up to this point I only knew of Peppers and Sausage and Italian Hot Dogs from Jimmy Buffs and Dickie Dees.

I mean now everyone has their favorite Hot Dogs – Pizza whatever you name it everybody always has an opinion.

But with me not only is it the Food but the memories that go with it !

I hope you love Tony’s as much as I do..
